Supporting Municipal Drinking Water Systems
Water treatment projects require dependable systems that can handle pressure, flow, chemicals, and changing site conditions. HDPE piping provides a strong, flexible, and corrosion-resistant option for municipal drinking water, filtration, and process applications.
From product selection to delivery and technical support, our team helps keep water treatment projects moving from planning through installation.
Pelican Lake, SK — Surface Water Treatment Upgrade
Pelican Lake First Nation needed an upgraded water treatment system to provide added protection against water-borne pathogens and help reduce the formation of disinfection byproducts. Tonka Water supported pilot testing and supplied new surface water treatment equipment installed downstream of the existing conventional treatment process.
The system includes Organix™ ion exchange for TOC removal before U-Flex™ ultrafiltration, with integrated controls to support plant operation.
- Plant flow: 120 gpm / 7.6 L/s
- Commissioned in 2013
- Extensive pilot study
- Integrated system with full plant control
Cando, SK — Groundwater Treatment System
The community of Mosquito First Nation in Cando needed a new groundwater treatment system. Tonka Water was selected as the basis of design equipment manufacturer for a system that includes biological pretreatment and a fully automated Flux RO/NF™ dual-train membrane system.
The biological system uses VertaCell™ pressure filters to help remove iron and manganese, convert ammonia to nitrate, manage biological activity, and protect the membrane system from fouling.
- Plant flow: 108 gpm / 6.8 L/s
- Commissioned in 2014
- Biological treatment
- Integrated system
Canoe Narrows, SK — Packaged Surface Water Treatment
Canoe Lake Cree First Nation required a new surface water treatment system. Tonka Water’s Unitized Treatment System, or UTS™, was selected to provide conventional treatment in one packaged system.
The system combines flocculation, sedimentation, and media filtration, with Uni-Pac™ parallel plates for improved settling and Simul-Wash™ backwash for effective filter cleaning and reduced wastewater.
- Plant flow: 285 gpm / 18.0 L/s
- Commissioned in 2013
- Uni-Pac™ parallel plates
- Full plant control
Cupar, SK — Groundwater Treatment Plant
The Town of Cupar required a new groundwater treatment plant. The system includes Flux RO/NF™ membrane treatment with conventional pretreatment, baffled pressure detention tanks, and Tonka Water VertaCell™ filters for iron and manganese treatment.
The Simul-Wash™ backwash process supports efficient filter cleaning, helps limit waste, and improves overall system performance.
- Plant flow: 112 gpm / 7.1 L/s
- Commissioned in 2012
- Integrated system
- Optimized design
